Blog Update Week #2 ending
December 5th
Sunday this week was a quiet day with a short nap in the afternoon. It is surprising how the stress of the trip and the unaccustomed heat catches up with you. The seasoned locals, being accustomed to much warmer temperatures, are finding this weather a bit chilly.
The rest day went by quickly and Monday brought on the tasks at hand - all to be done in due time, just to keep Allan busy.

Our roof drain pipe had to be replaced because it was blown off and damaged during one of the hurricanes. Due to our self imposed 14 day quarantine, Allan had Emilio, our friend and taxi driver, shop for and deliver the parts and pieces he needed to do the job.
Claudia took pity on him later in the day and brought him some special cookies. They are called "Little Ears" in English/ "Orejitas" in Spanish. They are very similar to a sugar cookie - and go great with afternoon tea or coffee.
The air conditioner lines needed to have a UV ray protection tape replaced. This covering does not last long but needs to be on the lines to prevent the foam covering from deteriorating. The sun and weather is so challenging, it attacks everything in one way or another.
While Allan was able to work on his own doing the AC pipes, I took the opportunity to take a few pictures of the sights from the roof top. These two Morning Doves were preening themselves and each other - very interesting to watch.
The internet "IZZI" service man was working across the street.
Our propane flow through water heater took a notion to reduce the temperature of our hot water. It was great for showers but not hot enough to do the dishes. The problem - the propane tank regulator. Once that was changed - bingo - hot water. Kris (our property manager) is shown here, between Allan and Jose Luis, the propane professional, translating. I have no idea what we would do without this woman!
The propane workers replacing the propane tank regular.
December 1st was Allan's birthday - so he wouldn't have
to cook dinner I ordered pizza - hahahah. It was from
El Diez Pizza - absolutely delicious - and it had cheese in the rolled crust edge!
A job for our contractor Carlos, the steel beams in the ceiling are rusting and causing the cement to lose its adhesion. Carlos has had to repair situations like these in the past for us, he will remove the loose cement, treat the rusted steel, add new cement and paint - bingo, job well done.
Carlos will be here the first week of January, (this is the date he gave us), to lay tile in the bedrooms, fix the ceiling along with a few other items he doesn't know about yet. Great fodder for an upcoming blog.
The Christmas decorations were put up this week - wow it takes all of about one half hour! Love it!
The little Christmas Tree and Nativity Scene on one side of the the room and a few candles lit on the other. Eazy - Peazy!
We evicted an unwanted house guest this week. I was in the kitchen when what to my peripheral vision should appear but a little grey mouse scurrying across the counter top and down behind the stove. Allan, (again the true handy man that he is), rigged up the old trusty red neck mouse trap and captured him that night. Allan is a great mouser! The little fellow had a great send off - I do hope he wasn't too traumatized to avoid the many neighborhood cats.
Saturday - day 8 of quarantine we took a chance, masked up, grabbed the umbrellas and went for a very short walk to break the monotony of confinement.
We have had a lot of rain this week and this day was no different, although, we were in no need of our umbrellas while out on this jaunt.
One family has their yard decorated for Christmas - Christmas here just doesn't seem to be Christmas for us - without snow it is like Christmas in July. The spirit is here though - many celebrations as you saw from my last years blog posts. This year will be minus the community festivities but I am sure the individual families with celebrate like any other year only in smaller groups.
Vehicular traffic was making quite a splash as they travelled down this road.
Our neighbour had an old truck he needed to have removed. It was gone in no time at all.
The week ended perfectly for Allan when his Amazon order arrived!
He is very proud of his hand truck - things are just go'na be shuffled from one place to another around here! I can see it now. May even have to install traffic lights or perhaps put a show moving sign on me.
Mr. Elliott is getting that needed rest after a busy week. Enjoy Allan, you worked hard.
Its has been a wonderful week in "PARADISE", it is so nice to be back.
Until my next post,
stay healthy, stay happy, stay safe and keep smiling.
