November 3rd to 9th, 2019

Week #6, Air Canada have come to the conclusion that
our luggage is never to be found and decided to
pay us out - the amount doesn't completely cover our
estimated cost of contents, the luggage itself and the
checked on fees. We will be applying to the Credit Card company we used to book the flights to try and recoup
the difference. The good news is "if they find our luggage
at some point they will return it to us". We would so much rather have the luggage than the money but we have to thankful for small blessings.

At the first of the week we met with a friend we met here last year or was it the year before? Maurice from Winnipeg, it was nice to see him again and catch up. His wife is coming later, she's giving him time to set up house keeping and fluff the nest.

We had lunch at Don's restaurant at Ojo de Agua, great place to eat. The seats are comfortable, the beer is cold and the food is hot, awesome, after all - this is paradise.

You will notice the lack of people on the beach, this is still low season so there are not many tourist here yet. By mid December  the seats will be full and there will be others waiting for one to clear so they can relax beach side too.

The birds wait for you to leave so they can clean up your crumbs - that is if you left any.

It was a cooler day with a bit of wind, you can see the rain fall over the ocean in the center of the photo.

Beautiful.

Tuesday we went to "Lola and Moya" for a delicious breakfast. The treat was a gift/prize for our Day of the Dead Alter, (Alterar el día de los muertos).

Lola & Moya is a well kept secret located on
Calle Rafael E. Melgar, just past the Super Chedraui and across the street from Morelos Hausienda. It is a must place to eat in the Port for sure.

Claudia always taking selfies - she was with us for the prize breakfast.

Inside the restaurant they have hand made bead work and fine needle work  items for sale. Beautiful!

Some decorative wall painting is being done on the inside the restaurant.

These pieces are also for sale and they are made from waxed threads. The intricate work and detail is very impressive. Some people are so talented.

A religious organization has its message sent to the public with loud speakers on this Volkswagen. This is a common site in Puerto Morelos and has been for years. Many events are advertised this way.

As usual, flowers are growing in abundance. The rain has given the plants and trees new life.

Tiny ice burgs in Puerto Morelos melt fast, so you have to get that beer down before it gets warm.

Allan and his assistant Mr. Fix It - "Fernando" are discussing various maintenance issues.

They hooked the pressurized water to my washing machine, the previous hookup was gravity fed water. This new line will make wash day move along a little quicker with the machine filling up faster.

Some tidying up of propane lines was completed. Allan is very impressed with Fernando's abilities and he speaks English very well. We are very fortunate to have found him thanks to our neighbour Claudia.

Our Gardener Chochu planted a lemon tree upon Allan's request when he planted other trees and plants for us. It looks like Allan is going to get his wish for his home grown fruit - blossoms are blooming and fruit is on its way!

The day after the new water line was hooked up to the washing machine, Allan was cleaning that bodega and what should he find? A tarantula! - just a baby one they say, but it sure looked big compared to our dock spiders! The neighbour insisted it be taken to the jungle and set free, so we obliged the request.

Saturday we stopped at Micheladas, the bar on the highway for a beer and to watch traffic in the rain. A hard day for a retired couple in Puerto Morelos. Jeez.

The workers in this truck took refuge under the bridge during the downpour. A couple of adventurous ones ran to Chedraui for beer. No rain coats, just beer. LOL

No iceburgs in this beer but it was still cold, we just had to drink in faster.😂

This is our neigbours cat, you have seen him in past posts. He has taken to us and spends a lot of time in our yard just laying around. He comes to our door and meows for food, in doing so he drools, long slobbers drip off his chin. Not a cat you want to pick up and cuddle but he is a nice cat just the same.

The drooling cat joins us in wishing each of you well for the upcoming week. Stay safe and warm in those cold Northern Ontario days and nights. Keep smiling 😀
